Happy Father's Day to my poppa! I love him for all of his wisdom, his sense of humor, his shamelessness. He's filled me with confidence and strength my whole life and even taught me how to argue like a champ. I'm so lucky that he's a huge part of my life and love love love him.
Gregory Crewdson's work is big, powerful, tense, unusual and beautifully lit. It's incredibly inspiring to look at work and then immediately be able to hear an artist's motivations, processes, intent. Look3 is a truly amazing experience. #look3festival
Taking self portraits in a new place is a little embarrassing. At least I'm in a town flooded with photographers and if anyone stops to looks it is out of curiosity. For some of you my new followers, @jcb_jhnsn and I are doing a photo challenge in which we take a portrait every day for 92 days, the months of summer. My flight's delayed and we're all just trying to fight off the boredom.
The roses bush in our backyard is in bloom and it is marvelous. The first floor tenant takes care of it and ties it up so the landlord won't hack it down and the thorns won't bother anyone.
Feels like hardly a moment together and another goodbye. I'm off to Charlottesville, VA for LOOK3, a photo festival. I'm excited to see a new part of the country, connect with other photographers and spend time soaking in inspiration.

The new bassinet just waiting to be occupied. It's a whole lot quieter in the house right now than in probably will be for the next couple years!
At 4 AM I got the call that my sister-in-llaw had begun labor. My sister and I ran over so they could head to the hospital. So far today, Elly and I have eaten breakfast, read books, played in an imaginary restaurant, gone to the baby play gym, had chocolate milkshake and french fries and gone to the zoo. Now she'll be out for a few hours so I can make a plan of how to keep her occupied for the rest of the evening! Also, expect a lot of pictures of the new baby girl, Frances!!
